Random Thoughts on Instructional Design

'I imagine a school system that recognizes learning is natural, that a love of learning is normal, and that real learning is passionate learning. A school curriculum that values questions above answers…creativity above fact regurgitation…individuality above conformity.. and excellence above standardized performance…." Tom Peters

Portfolios for Teaching, Learning, and Presentation

Over the course of the next two months I will be posting a 10 part series on designing electronic portfolios for learning and presentation. The series will start with the posting of an updated version of the “Designing Professional Portfolios” guidelines that I posted in 2008, and then will move on to using the Adobe Acrobat portfolio tool for the creation and assessment of portfolios. I am focusing on this tool because it is available at most higher education institutions and is very easy to use. There are many other tools that can be used for the creation of portfolios, but I will not be addressing them in this series.

I hope that you find the series that will start on June 20,2010 useful. Please provide any comments or suggestions for enhancements to the materials in the “Reply” section of the postings.
