Purpose: This eight week online workshop stresses the use of instructional systems design in the analysis, design, application and development of distance education. Participants look at the unique aspects of self-directed learning, learning centered teaching practices, online community building, and virtual classroom management practices.
Tools Utilized: Dreamweaver for content and page management, Fireworks for image manipulation, Flash for concept modules, and Adobe Captivate for tutorials. All materials are delivered through the Angel, Blackboard and Moodle. Previous versions of this course were offered through WebCT.
Hitchhikers Guide to Course Development

New Faculty Orientation Guide

Faculty Technology Support & Development
- Conducted learning management system study, and developed and managed the the conversion from WebCT to Angel for Reading Area Community College.
- Coordinated online course development efforts for Instructional Technology program at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Philadelphia University, and developed campus-wide solutions at Immaculata University.
- Used and oversaw the implementation of emerging digital technologies, such as Web-course authoring (e.g., Blackboard, WebCT, Moodle) software, and content development tools (e.g., Macromedia Director, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FrontPage, PHP, CSS, MySQL, etc.).
- Designed and implemented the online degree completion program in Management Information Systems at Eastern University.
- Initiated, developed, and coordinated faculty and staff development workshops for Microsoft office products, website development, Blackboard and WebCT course management systems, online teaching techniques and academic support systems at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Immaculata, Philadelphia Universities.
- Initiated and coordinated faculty development activities related to instructional technology for adjuncts and new faculty members, at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Immaculata, Philadelphia and Eastern Universities.
